Below are four different attempts at recreating the Enterprise in the computer. Two are currently in progress. Check them out and leave your feedback.

Mark Gagen's Enterprise

Recently Gary Kerr has filled us in, via Petri Blomqvist, on some Enterprise facts. Without a better spot for it, I've posted them here on the main page, for the time being. You can be sure that these observations are accurate:

1. The saucer is not perfectly circular. We set up a jig so we could get the most accurate measurements, then measured the diameter in two different places. Contrary to published figures, the diameter averages 59.25". BTW, the original pencil grid lines on the upper saucer were not perfectly concentric.

2. On the original Enterprise plans the pylons were drawn at a 90-degree angle to each other; however, on the 134" model the pylons are only 86-degrees apart.

3. In 1991 a friend & I went to Ed Miarecki's shop to see the 11-footer before the official restoration crew arrived. It was snowing and there was nothing better to do, so we started disassembling the model. The highlight of the trip was when my friend & I held onto each side of the saucer while Ed unscrewed the bolts that held it to the dorsal. When Ed unscrewed the last bolt, we performed a saucer separation and "flew" the saucer to a soft landing atop a nearby plastic garbage can. Deanna Troi, eat your heart out!
